GIA Positions

Job Title: Director, New York Education
Department: Education
City: New York, NY

Reports To: Director, Education Operations

Requirements:
Must maintain Directors and Teacher's Permit/License issued by the New York Department of Education.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; and minimum of 5 years related jewelry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Graduate Gemologist diploma required.

Intermediate computer skills required.

Extensive knowledge of GIA required.

Communicates effectively, gets along with co-workers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure.


Primary Functions:
GIA, the foremost authority in gemology has an immediate opening in their New York office for a Director, New York Education to oversee the staffing and maintain a positive, constructive and creative learning and teaching environment.

Responsibilities:
Correspond and file reports with IPEDS, OEDS, and the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT), as required .

Assist in the preparation of ACCSCT Accreditation Report .

Coordinate with Accreditation Officer on accreditation standards.

Ensure courses are approved by appropriate agencies; ensure instructors and school are licensed in New York as well as obtain all necessary NY State approval of catalogs and enrollment agreements.
Prepare department budget for staff salaries, supplies and equipment; projects monthly revenue and expenses and be responsible for all employee decisions.

Perform Instructor duties and responsibilities as needed, oversee practical examination results and evaluate instructors performance.
