You may not recognize The Loupe: GIA World News when the latest issue arrives on your doorstep in February. It has undergone many transformations in an effort to provide a more modern, reader-friendly publication.
The Winter 2002 issue of The Loupe, the first in its 55th anniversary year, will feature this redesign. The colors are brighter, the headlines are larger and the photos are as big as they can get. It’s a new twist on the publication that continues to provide the industry with pertinent information about GIA.
“We’re pretty sure the first thing you will notice is the new size,” says Amanda Luke, editor of The Loupe: GIA World News. “We wanted to give you a more manageable publication for your desk and briefcase.”
The revamped publication is not all about looks, however. New content has been integrated into the magazine, beginning with an expanded section focusing on the GIA Alumni Association. In it, you will find more coverage of Alumni events and stories on its distinguished members.
“We think highlighting the accomplishments of our alumni is a great fit for this publication. We hope you will be as impressed with their activities as we are,” Luke says.
New columns have also been added to the redesigned publication. Market View, authored by long-time industry journalist Russell Shor, will give readers the latest information on marketing trends. Student View, written by GIA students, will give readers a glimpse into life at the Institute from a student’s perspective.
“Even though the The Loupe: GIA World News looks a little different, its goal is the same: to let you know about the great programs and people that make up GIA,” Luke says. “We hope you like the changes.”
