Recheck and Final Observation
Volume 16-Issue 3-Summer 2007

GIA's most senior and experienced technical staff perform many of the secondary services offered by the Laboratory, yet only a small percentage of items submitted actually result in a grade change, according to Moses, who feels this is a costly and inefficient use of resources, especially in light of efforts to decrease turnaround time.

"The new fees, listed left, more accurately reflect the time, resources and expertise involved in providing these services," he said. If the recheck and final observation service results in a change to the diamond's grade, there will be no charge.
