Exhibit Doubles GIA Museum Attendance
Volume 16-Issue 4-Fall 2007

The two, who were in Carlsbad to introduce the foundation's "Celebration of Life" exhibit, pointed out that each piece of jewelry was displayed on an item purchased in a Tanzanian market.

The Tanzanite Foundation's "Celebration of Life" exhibit drew more visitors to Carlsbad during its July to September run than any other exhibit since the campus closed to walk-in visitors in 2003.

The Institute's Guest Services department doubled the number of public tours that come through the Robert Mouawad campus on weekdays.

Elise Misiorowski, director of the GIA Museum, said the exhibit was popular, in part, because it was the only time the general public was able to see it. The three previous exhibitions were open only to invited guests and members of the trade. She also said she's proud the collection was on display in Carlsbad.

"This exhibit demonstrated the versatility of tanzanite in modern jewelry design, and it's a privilege to have had it here. I'm pleased that we were able to provide the public with such a rare opportunity."
