GIA Presents Annual Staff of the Year Awards

GIA recognized 2007's six Staff of the Year Award winners at the Institute's annual holiday party in Carlsbad Dec. 20.

Five of the honorees work out of the Carlsbad campus: Amanda Luke, senior communications manager and editor of The Loupe: GIA World News, GIA Insider and alum.connect; Art Cabuang, payroll assistant; Michelle DeVore, Distance Education instructor; Sergio Espinoza, grading assurance supervisor; and Wendy Shelechi, quality assurance gemologist. The sixth honoree, Claudia Kramm, was recognized at GIA New York earlier in December for her work as a Laboratory business analyst there.

GIA President Donna Baker was proud to honor these individuals with this award, which has been given to a total of 112 employees since its establishment in 1985. "Their team spirit, creativity, diligence and professional approach have significantly advanced GIA's mission and long-standing leadership in the field of gemology," Baker said.
