Georges Ruiz

Owner of P. Lancon, S.A. Geneva

"Since 1968, when I started my career in the jewelry business, the Gemological Institute of America has been the most reliable and beneficial tool that I use on an everyday basis. Its grading of diamonds and knowledge of stones simplify the procedures needed to accomplish my work."

Mr. Georges Ruiz's interest in jewelry began in Geneva during his apprenticeship in his father's business, which dealt in pearls and colored gemstones. In 1966, Mr. Ruiz worked in a large diamond office in Antwerp, Belgium. In April 1968, Mr. Ruiz purchased the House of Lancon and was able to work with originator Paul Lancon and benefit from Lancon's experience until his death five years later.

The House of Lancon was created at the beginning of the 20th century and was located in St. Claude near Geneva in the French Jura Mountains. This region was known as the Diamond Cutters Center. Thereafter, Lancon moved his office to Geneva in 1950, where it is today.

One of Mr. Ruiz's major accomplishments has been to expand P. Lancon into a worldwide jewelry business. In 1968, the House of Lancon specialized in small diamonds for wrist-watch production. Today, the House of Lancon works with all size stones including diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, natural pearls and other various stones and materials. The company also manufactures jewelry in sets or unique items and buys and sells antique jewelry.

Mr. Ruiz attained his broad knowledge and expertise by working with different people from all over the world and traveling the world searching for unique items.

Mr. Ruiz is married to Irina and has five children. His oldest, Christian, works with him.
