Chief Development Officer Appoints New Events Manager

GIA Chief Development Officer Linda Ellis has appointed Jan Tilton as the new events manger for the department. In her new position, Tilton will plan and manage several annual events, including GIA’s prestigious League of Honor Founders Dinner.

Tilton previously worked as the office manager for GIA President William E. Boyajian for more than five years. She brings in-depth knowledge of the Institute to her position in the Development department, Ellis said.

“Jan’s abilities in management, organization and event planning made her the ideal choice to head up the events area,” she said. “She is a delightful addition to our team with a warm and accessible nature that can only benefit our department and the people we serve.”

Tilton’s familiarity with GIA, its mission and constituents was quickly put to the test when she stepped in to organize the Founders Dinner in October. The annual dinner in New York City recognizes industry leaders who have donated $100,000 or more to GIA.

“The successful event was testimony to Jan’s understanding of GIA and its role in the industry,” Ellis said.

Prior to joining GIA in 1997, Tilton spent 24 years with the Long Beach Schools Federal Credit Union. She began her career there as a college student and eventually was appointed vice president of marketing in 1985. In her various roles at the company, she was responsible for financial management, writing, editing and producing a variety of marketing literature, as well as coordinating special events and meetings for the company’s board of directors.

“I love being part of a vision and helping that vision become a reality,” Tilton said. “Planning events for the Development department is a wonderful opportunity for me to meet friends of GIA and help continue their relationship with the Institute. I look forward to continuing to provide them with quality events and seminars that will help further GIA’s mission.”
