G&G Article on Cultured Pearl Industry to Receive Liddicoat Journalism Award

The American Gem Society will present Russell Shor with its annual Richard T. Liddicoat Journalism Award for Industry/Trade Reporting for his article "From Single Source to Global Free Market: The Transformation of the Cultured Pearl Industry," from the Fall 2007 issue of Gems & Gemology. Shor, a veteran journalist and GIA’s senior industry analyst, will receive the award on July 29.

In 2006, Shor won the Liddicoat Journalism Award for his Fall 2005 G&G article "A Review of the Political and Economic Forces Shaping Today’s Diamond Industry."

This marks the fifth G&G article honored since the Liddicoat Award’s inception in 2003. The prize was established in memory of GIA’s longtime president and chairman.

In June, Shor received the gold Publications Management Magnum Opus award in the "Best Regular Featured Department, Section or Column" category for his Market Viewpoint column in The Loupe.

This is the second year in a row Shor has won a Magnum Opus Award in this category.
